Speech #4: What is Silence? 沈黙とは何か？

· Went to Lake Tahoe and was impressed by the silence and majestic ness タホ湖に行った時に沈黙と優雅に心打たれた
· Two conclusions 沈黙に関して二つの結論
o Silence is not only what you feel with your 5 senses 沈黙とは五感だけで感じる物ではない
o There are individual difference in preception of silence 沈黙の感じ方には個人差がある。
· If it was night would I have appreciated the silence as much? もし夜であったらこれほど沈黙を感じたでしょうか？
· Living near narita got used to all the jets and didn’t really notice all the noise. 成田の近くに住んでた時はジエット音に慣れあんまり気にしなかった
· One thing I noticed when I came over to the USA noticed the refergerator was loud. アメリカに来て気になった音は冷蔵庫の音です。
· If raising kids start out loud enviroment so that they appriciate silence もしお子さんを育てるのならちょっとうるさめの環境で！

· My Electricity Bill was $400 this month This is why and here are some points to look out for: 今月の電気とガス代が＄４００でした。なぜそうなったかそして注意点。
o Have the new baby so we keep the temperature up…but 子供ができたので家を暖かめにしてるけど。。
o The Bill is based on baseline usage if you go over the baseline amount the price per Kw increases. 電気とガス代は基本仕様量で値段が設定されてる。基本仕様量を超えると値段がかなり跳ね上がります。
o Live in a home built in 1910’s insulation is not there １９１０年代に作られた家なので熱絶縁がほとんどないから
· Need to start really controlling how much energy we use in household これからももっとまめにエネルギーの使い方を検討していくつもりです。
